CELLAR NOTES
IGP Costa Toscana Red
Harvested in early October in the town of Seravezza (LU).
Vineyards: “Regnalla” (1982), “Pontino” (1986), “La Costa” (2007) to sandy matrix, deepred clay mixed with yellow and dark-gray.
Exposure: South-West / South-West / South-East.
Altitude: 70/240 meters above sea level.
System: Guyot.
Winemaking: after harvesting and manual selection on the counter of the best bunches, destemming followed by fermentation and postfermentation maceration in stainless steel tanks; after racking aging in barrels of 2nd and 3rd passage French oak for 10 months, malolactic fermentation in wood.
TASTING NOTES
Deep ruby red with purple hues. The nose is strong and pronounced, complex, fine and elegant. It is floral, fruity and spicy. In the mouth expresses a definite freshness and good tannins balanced by a good alcohol and sugar alcohols. Good savory vein. Well structured, rich in extractive matter that portends a strong propensity to aging.
Serving suggestions: tordelli Versilia, intruglia, ribs stewed with potatoes, boiled meats with sauces, cheese.
Serving temperature: 16 – 18 °C.
